So Random

Wednesday was the first day I have actually thrown up during my pregnancy without having a stomach bug. I didn't throw up the first 4 months (besides getting sick) because the Zofran prevented it and it was so nice. The weight gain has been more with this baby as a result, but not throwing up was really nice. I woke up and ate Cheerios like I do every morning at about 7 AM. Then around 9:30 I was feeling nauseated and really hungry so I got some cottage cheese to eat. I started eating and realized I was just going to have to face reality and spend some time at the toilet. It was so weird to just randomly throw up at 33 weeks pregnant!

The only thing I can think that could've made it happen was I took a new prenatal vitamin that morning and maybe my body just didn't agree with it. I have 3 more of them (it's a sample) but I haven't talked myself into taking another one of them just to test the waters. My doctor gave me a bunch of samples to try at the beginning of my pregnancy and I decided now to use them up.

As for weight gain. The other day I weighed in at 176.2 which puts me at exactly 35 pounds and the most I am supposed to gain, ha ha. I still have 6 more weeks to go so I know I will go over the recommended amount. Most of the time I care, but sometimes I just don't and eat whatever I feel like eating. I try and exercise but I have been getting some little painful contractions and some pressure down below which makes even walking hard sometimes. I pushed through yesterday and exercised and actually felt pretty good after.

I have a kind of bad system I follow. I usually eat really well the week before my doctor's visit, but after I go and weigh in, I usually allow myself a few days to eat junk. I know I shouldn't, but I can't get out of the mentality that when I'm pregnant I have just a little more free reign to eat whatever I want. Wrong, I know, but I love food and especially food that isn't great for me like french fries and desserts.

Only a few more weeks to go so I'm trying not to stress out too much about this. At this point I kind of feel like whatever will be, will be :) On the plus side, I have not swelled up yet, hooray! My ring finger is a little swollen because my wedding ring is really snug and my shoes feel a tiny bit tight but no real visible swelling yet!

Funny side note. Yesterday I was at the mall and I saw a really cute swimsuit at JC Penney. I knew it would never fit me now but it's just the style and color I really like so I bought it in my regular size! Now I have 90 days in which to make sure I will really like it after my pregnancy and if not, I can return it. I told my Mom about this yesterday and she just cracked up! I think it's funny too but I really like it!

Dreaded Phone Call

Well, I just received a most dreaded phone call. I had my 1st one hour glucose test on Monday and just received a call today that my blood sugar level was high. I now have to go in to do the 3 hour glucose test on Monday to see if I have gestational diabetes. I really, really, really, really, really hope I don't have it!

In all honesty, the main reason I hope I don't have it is not because of the changes that will need to occur immediately, but the chances that I develop Type 2 Diabetes in the future goes up. I am a girl who loves food and if I develop diabetes later in life, I will be sad to have to live such a restricted life in regards to food.

So, I don't know if it will help, but I am going to really restrict sugars and eat healthy for the next 4 days to see if it makes a difference on the test. Plus I will try and exercise every day except Sunday and see if it helps. However, I really limited sugar for 2 days before my first test and it was still high. I don't have super high hopes that this will really do much but I'm going to try.

Here's hoping.....

After Christmas.....

So this morning I weighed in at 171.4, and I am now at 30.2 pounds and 29 weeks pregnant. My latest goal is to stay around or under 40 pounds total so I have 10 pounds to go and 11 weeks. I don't think it should be so hard with the holidays ending and having less treats around. There is still birthdays galore in my family in January, and February as well as Valentine's Day but at least it isn't entire months of treats, just a day here and there.

Overall, I'm feeling pretty good. Plus, with taking drugs this pregnancy which allowed me to eat more and not ever throw up besides getting sick in California, adding an additional 10 pounds is not that crazy to me :) Also, I am completely done with Zofran. I did fill another prescription in case I need a pill here and there but so far, I am feeling better digestively and I'm not too nauseated if I take it easy and keep eating.

Earlier this month I was feeling pretty sick every day (I wrote about it on my family blog) and I finally went to the doctor. I found out I had a bladder infection and was so relieved that my symptoms were not here to stay for the next 3 months. I felt extremely uneasy, and just terrible, especially in the afternoon and evening. It was rough! Now that I'm about done with the antibiotics, life is getting much better and I feel better prepared to handle the 3rd trimester.

Feeling better

Well, I really stepped up the healthier eating and exercising and my weight evened out a little. I lost a little weight but I don't think this is bad since I needed to control it a little better. I weighed in at 7.6 pounds in 5 weeks, which was less than the 10 pounds I had predicted. When I asked the doctor about my weight gain he just laughed and said I am doing just great, measuring right on and he likes healthy moms. I also talked to 2 of my sister-in-laws who have had him as a doctor and they both said he doesn't care how much weight you gain as long as you pass your glucose test which is the next time I go in.

I can now breathe a little easier, eat a few more treats and enjoy my holidays! I am going to try and not overdo it but eating some extras is definitely on my list!

Grrrr

How is it possible that I gain weight EVERY SINGLE DAY??? I understand that I should gain a pound a week, but I seem to gain a pound every few days. It's starting to make me feel down. Now I know yesterday was Thanksgiving and I did eat a lot for lunch, and then had pie and a snack before bed, went to bed weighing a lot and woke up weighing a lot. Then today I went shopping from 4:30 AM to 2:30 PM, lots and lots of walking and moving around. Plus I ate pretty normal and I weigh more tonight than last night when I was stuffed!

This is hard for me. When I go to my doctor's appt on Thursday I am pretty sure I will have gained 10 pounds in the last 5 weeks. My doctor is probably pretty easy going about weight gain, but I still worry about getting a lecture. My first doctor didn't want me to gain more than 20-25 pounds so he would tell me I was gaining too much and put the guilt on (I did gain 30 by the way). He said women were eating too much, gaining too much weight, having big babies and having more C-sections than were necessary. I guess it has stuck with me because now I worry about gaining too much with each subsequent pregnancy. I remember after I would weigh in with my first doctor, I would get Burger King on the way home, the only time I would dare eat that kind of fried food for fear of weighing too much!

Sorry for the rambling, I am just feeling a little frustrated and down about my weight gain, it's hard for me to deal with right now! I should probably talk to my sister-in-law who had 2 babies with this doctor and possibly gained as much as I'm gaining. Did any of you ever weigh 10 pounds at a checkup and did you doctor question it? I am especially nervous going into the holidays and having my next weigh-in in January since I know it will probably be a lot again. Makes it kind of hard to enjoy all of the sweets that are sure to head my way soon from parties and neighbors!!

Alright, I am going to eat a snack and go to bed. Maybe I'll feel better in the morning or maybe I should throw away my scale.

Well, I've hit 20....

So, I've finally hit 20 pounds. My doctor is determined to stick with the March 17th due date so that means I am 22 weeks tomorrow. I don't think I'll follow the trend to only gain 30 pounds with this baby like I did with Timmy and Allie. That's okay, I don't really mind but I hope to not go too much over the recommended 35 pounds. I think I'll be bummed if I gain more than 40 but I'm hoping with only 18 weeks to go that I will stay under 20 additional pounds. If I gain a pound a week, I'll be around 38 and that's okay with me. Well, here's to good eating and I certainly eat a lot these days!!
