14 weeks

Well, I am always excited to make it to Monday because that means I am 1 week further along.  This week, 14 weeks today!  I reached the 3 month mark on Saturday, yay!  I am actually feeling OK most days but there is usually a time in the day that I don't feel very well.  It is usually in the afternoon and especially around 8-9 PM at night.  I think that is when I feel the most sick but luckily the kids are going to bed then and I can just rest and try to ignore how crappy I feel.

I do occasionally have a day where I feel sick all day and this happened on Saturday.  I really didn't feel well and my Dad and his fiance came up to babysit so Justin and I could go on date night since he was out of town all week.  Well, we went to dinner and afterwards I just had to go back home because I didn't feel up for anything else.

For this pregnancy, I am really digging carrots.  I eat carrots every day and while they aren't that amazing, they are guaranteed to make my stomach feel better and I NEVER get a stomachache after eating them.  I also like celery, life cereal and eggs with cheese.  I still have a hard time eating sweets but fruit does the trick for needing something sweet and it usually sits well.  As a result, I have only gained 8 pounds.  With my past pregnancy I was probably around 12 pounds at this point.

I only have 2 pairs of jeans that still fit although they won't much longer.  Usually when I wash jeans, they are too small for comfort but they need washing, lol!  I keep debating pulling out the maternity jeans when I am still barely showing.  I wish it would warm up because I have several larger pairs of capris that I bought when I hadn't lost the baby weight the summer after Mikey was born.  It should be warm by Wed of this week, yay!  I also bought some cute maternity clothes on Saturday for my trip :)

Well, I have known I am pregnant for 10 weeks now and sick for 7 of those weeks.  Hopefully in the next 2 weeks I will be feeling much better and I know that when I hit about 4 months, life usually gets much better :)  I sure hope so!  In 5 weeks I am going to Cancun for a week of fun with my hubby and I pray and hope that I feel well and enjoy my trip.

How about a little Gratitude?

So, today I am not going to complain.  I may not feel awesome still, but I am grateful that I am past the 1st trimester!!  Plus, I just have to give a shout out to my husband, he is racking up some serious points lately!  Pretty much anything I even mention to him, he has done right away or secretly done for me.  Here are some examples.

We have a north facing home and we got dumped on with snow this winter.  Because we hardly get any sun, the snow never melts.  I was feeling down that we would have snow on our lawn until June so he went out sneakily and shoveled the snow from the piles all over the lawn so that when it warmed up last week, all of it melted, lol!  I also casually mentioned that I didn't want the garbage can in the garage anymore because the smell was getting to me so he went right out and moved it outside, yay!

He also fixed the end table drawer that was breaking and Mikey's dresser drawer that was breaking without being asked.  He has done dishes for me and cleaned up when I've been away at R.S. or running errands.  He went outside and cleaned up the whole yard, washed a window that was really dirty, took down all of the Christmas lights that we couldn't do in the freezing cold and mountains of snow, trimmed the trees and was ready to put weed pre-emergent on our grass but the time wasn't right yet.  Overall, he has been awesome at responding to my needs when I need extra help and helping to take care of our yard.

He is gone to LA this whole week so I'm sure I'll be tired doing everything myself, but I have sure appreciated his help these past several weeks!

More Trials

On Friday Justin and I went out to dinner with friends and then we went to the adult ward game night.  I started getting serious chills and shooting pains in my lower abdomen.  Since we drove, I made everyone leave so I could go home (it was almost over anyway).  The next morning I was okay, not great, but okay.  We drove up to Park City to go to a lego builder showing at the Kimball Art Center.  It was pretty cool but then the pains and chills came back.  They continued on and off throughout the evening and I suspected a UTI.

On Sunday morning I could not function with morning sickness, losing an extra hour of sleep, pain and chills and 9 AM church.  I got my family ready and sent them all (except Mikey) off to church and went to the instacare.  They did diagnose a UTI and gave me Macrobid which I got at Walmart and started.  I had nausea all afternoon but not too bad but they warned it could cause nausea and to take it with food.  I took another at bed time and another one this morning.  Well, this morning the crazy nausea started and I could barely stand it it was so bad.  I tried to throw up but the zofran prevented me so I just sat around in pain.  I finally took a 2 hour nap and I still felt terrible when I woke up.  I made grilled cheese for dinner and couldn't eat hardly any.  Well, I finally threw up and I must admit, not totally better but a little.

I did call my regular OB today and explained what was going on and told them I didn't want to take this med for the next 3 days, the nausea was really that horrible.  They called in amoxicillan for me and I was going to go get it but couldn't even leave the house.  My sister-in-law came over to pick up her 10 year old son I was watching and supposed to take to the dentist (but the dentist wasn't working on Monday) so she went and got my prescription at Walmart, bless her soul.  Well, moving on, moving on.

My poor husband is tired of me always feeling like crap and I don't blame him.  I don't love feeling like crap all the time either.  This too shall pass.  Welcome to 12 weeks.

Still Yuck and More Spotting

Well, I still feel like crap and on Monday the spotting returned for just a few minutes.  I went in since my doctor wants me to come in weekly if I'm spotting and everything was great.  The baby was even moving so that was really fun and made it all that more real.

I am really struggling with morning sickness this time.  I'm sure I struggled this much in the past but now that I'm in the thick of it, it is all consuming all day long.  Last pregnancy I think I was on the high of taking Zofran and felt nauseated but not to the point of throwing up.  This time however, I feel like throwing up several times a day although I don't so I'm not sure it's working as well.  I'm hoping that I'm feeling worse because I'm having a girl, lol!

I really hope this subsides by 16 weeks like with my other kids because Justin and I are going on a trip to probably Cancun for our 10 year anniversary when I am 19 weeks along.  I am just praying that I feel well and enjoy my trip otherwise I'd rather not go.  We thought about waiting until next year but then my sister-in-law will have 8 kids to care for since she has 4 and one of them will be a small baby, not even a year old.  So, we decided to just go ahead and go this year and pray that I feel well!

Until next week.

Yuck

So the past few days the morning sickness has hit in all its glory, yuck.  Last night I could barely stand getting out of bed and today is really rough too.  Thankfully I am 10.5 weeks and so the worst of the morning sickness should start to ebb in the next week or two.  I am really hoping that since I didn't get morning sickness until week 7 that this baby is just producing less hormones and that it will lessen faster than previous babies and go away sooner.  That is the hope, but it will probably be the opposite and leave later than before, boo.  I guess time will tell.

In fabulous news, no spotting now for 2 weeks, yippee!  I feel like it has truly gone away now and I am feeling a lot more confident in all of my pregnancy symptoms (I just had to unbutton my pants, they were too tight sitting down) and of course the cursed morning sickness.  I was joking with my husband last night that I wish I could go into a sleep induced coma and wake up in a month feeling better.  He stated that I would probably be sad to miss out on so much but honestly, when you feel like crap, nothing is very fun anyway, ha ha.

Well, weight gain is still going well.  I have probably gained 5 pounds and I am almost out of the first trimester.  So glad to be keeping it under control this time instead of gaining 11 like I did last time.

Getting Better

Tomorrow morning will mark 1 week with no spotting, I am excited!  I went to see the doctor again yesterday since he wants to see me once a week if I spot and since I haven't had any spotting this week, he told me I could come in again in 4 weeks if the spotting is truly over!  Yay!

The baby is still measuring great and showed a week further along in its progress than last week which is awesome.  I am also taking some herbalife nutritional supplements and I believe they are helping with my morning sickness.  I am also trying very hard to eat well in order to make this 1st trimester more bearable.

With my last baby, I easily gained 10 pounds in the first trimester but I am almost 9.5 weeks along and have only gained around 4.5 pounds.  Eating good food and giving this baby the proper nutrition so that I feel well is what I'm trying to achieve.  I want this whole experience to be a good one, being the last :)

Hope to see some friends on this blog soon!

Hope

So, I haven't been great at doing weigh ins for the past few weeks because my mind has been somewhere else this past while.  The reason is I'm pregnant with my 4th child :)  However, this time around has not been a cake walk.  In fact, it's been quite the opposite with several scares and days of total anxiety.  Here, let me share my story.

I found out just over 4 weeks ago that I was expecting.  I was really surprised because I had taken a test a few days before that has always shown me early and it was negative.  But, that time of the month hadn't come yet so I took another test and just left it to do some cleaning and when I came back it was positive and I was truly shocked!

So, with all of my other pregnancies I have gotten morning sickness on the first day of week 6.  This time it came and went and no morning sickness.  Plus, all of my other symptoms lessened and I didn't really feel pregnant so I was worried about miscarriage and spotting.  Well, the dreaded day came just over a week ago Sunday, the 3rd.  I woke up Sunday morning and started spotting.  I immediately thought I was going to lose this baby with no other obvious symptoms and still no morning sickness (6 days late).  Of course being a Sunday, my only options were to wait until Monday or go into the ER.  I called the on call doctor and he told me either choice would be reasonable, but he also said if I was going to miscarry then it had already happened and going to the ER would be a long wait and expensive.  So, I decided to wait.

Talk about the worst day of my life.  I tried calling Justin over and over and he wouldn't answer.  I finally called him while he was in church and he finally answered and immediately went home and started to research miscarriage since we were sure it was coming.  Well, the spotting only lasted about 5 minutes (I know, not long but I still didn't know what was going on).  I stayed home from church in case anything started to happen and my sister came over to watch my kids and I took a nap since I was so tired from the stress and not sleeping well the night before.  I woke up and felt fine so she left and then my Mom came from Wales, UT.  She helped me with the kids and we even went to the McMurray Super Bowl Party but I wasn't in much of a party mood.

We came home and Timmy was complaining of a bad sore throat and Allie was coughing so hard, it was rough.  I let my Mom take care of my kids during the night and in the morning and I woke up to Timmy complaining about his throat and having a high fever.  I called my doctor and they told me 2 PM, are you kidding me?  Uggh.  This was however just the appt line for the whole bldg of doctor's so I finally got ahold of my personal doctor's office at 9:15 and they told me to just come in.  I went in and surprise, the baby was fine!  I still had so much anxiety that I couldn't really relax until later that day when it finally sunk in.  I think I was still just worried that something was still wrong.

Then Timmy went to the doctor and had strep throat, yippee.

Well, it was very helpful having my Mom there and Justin was so surprised when I called him with the good news.  On Tuesday I finally got the blessed/cursed morning sickness.  Not too bad, but there just the same thank goodness. Then I started spotting again on Thursday morning so back in I went.  Another ultrasound showed the baby was good and had grown again, right on track.  The doctor told me to take it easy and not stress too much since both times had shown doing fine.  Mikey also woke up on Thursday with strep throat and ear infection so this made 4 doctor visits during the week.  Well, Friday morning I spotted all morning into the afternoon but I tried not to worry.  Justin came home that afternoon and I took a long nap.

I went in again on Monday morning and once again, baby has shown growth and I could even see a division of head and body, pretty fun!  I asked my doctor about my chances of this baby making it full term and he said my chances are good although with bleeding, there is always a slight chance of miscarriage.  He also told me to come in weekly as long as I keep spotting.

So, I am trying to keep my life as stress free as possible and not even worry about gaining weight since I can't exercise much and I am starving all the time.  I have seen so many cute pregnant women lately who keep their cute skinny faces the entire time and I just poof up at the slightest weight gain, lame.  Oh well, here's to a healthy baby and a poofy pregnancy face.  I'll get my face back by the end of year maybe :)  Starting weight the day I found out was 139.8, just under 140 lol.  Today I think I'm around 143 so up about 3 pounds in 4 weeks.

Baby is due September 23rd.
