After vacation weigh in

Last week we joined our McMurray family in Jackson Hole for our annual fall vacation. We had a really fun time besides Timmy getting sick for 2 days so I spent one day of my vacation at home taking care of Tim and my brother-in-law who hurt his pelvis and couldn't really move.

I wasn't sure if I would gain weight on this trip because I knew I would eat hearty meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks and most lunches included dessert as well as dinner. However, I knew we would be hiking and shopping and moving around a lot. I am pleased to announce that I actually lost weight on this trip which is a good thing because I believe I have been plugged up with constipation and finally felt like I got it under control. When I left I was 154 and this morning I was only 153.2. This is good because I know I'm going to the doctor again next week and I really didn't want to gain more than a pound a week to avoid a possible lecture.

Anyway, I still probably care too much about weight gain but it's hard to get out of this mindset when my mind was on it every day for 9 months. Plus, I am not really sure how strict my doctor is on weight gain, he probably isn't very picky but I don't really know with so few visits under my belt.

As for exercise, I did exercise on Monday and I think it may have set my back in motion to feel out of place because by Tuesday night after packing all day, I was hurting pretty good. Justin rubbed it pretty good Wed. night and it felt better the next day. I also did some good hikes with the family which was fun and exercise. Hopefully more to come this week but I have a headache this morning that I need to get under control first.

Exercise

Well, I finally started exercising again! Doctors say it can help with weight gain and even lessen morning sickness some so now that I'm feeling a little better, (well, not really) I need to do something to make me feel better. So, I pulled out my 5 mile walking video and did 30 minutes total which was just over 2 miles at an easy pace. I didn't exactly feel the nausea leave when exercising but it didn't increase either and I have felt fine afterwards so I think it will be something I now continue on a regular basis.

Hopefully it will help me gain a reasonable amount since I am on meds which make me not throw up so I am gaining more than my previous pregnancies. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Update

Well, I was right on track to only gain 10 pounds in the first trimester, and I figured that was a good goal so that I didn't let myself gain too much, but I went a little over. I was seriously a little under 10 pounds only 2 days before 12 weeks but then I gained a pound in a day, lucky me! Oh well, I'm still hoping to not gain too much this pregnancy, but if I do, oh well. I keep going back and forth between not caring and then caring too much!

My doctor does not seem to be much of a stickler on weight gain, but his nurse seems to care more, although she has never had any kids and doesn't truly understand nausea and eating etc. Since she is the one who does my weigh-ins, I may have to listen to her lectures in the future. Who knows, maybe not but when I first went in she said I could gain between 20-30 pounds and now it's down to 15-20 after the first trimester, ya right! So, we'll see what reality is :)
