Viva la Mexico!

Well, tomorrow my honey and I head off to Cancun, Mexico to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!  I am excited to go on a trip, I just wish I weren't pregnant.  I'm doing better but not 100% and still have quite a few food aversions and have to eat every 2-3 hours to avoid nausea.  I'm hoping that I will have enough energy to do everything we want to do and enjoy relaxing too.  The way I'm feeling I will probably only be able to go and go for half a day and then need to rest so we will just have to listen to my body and plan things accordingly.  I just wish I could enjoy desserts more but most of the time they give me a stomach ache.

I went to the chiropractor today for an adjustment and mentioned the throbbing pain in my hip and he said I likely have bursitis or inflammation of the fluid sack that protects bones from rubbing.  He said not to ever put heat on it since it is inflamed but to use ice and stretch the muscles between my hip and knee.  Not really a big deal, but nice to hear a logical explanation for the throbbing.  Also avoid sleeping on that side when it is acting up.

I am doing okay, but still some nausea but at least it is manageable and I don't feel like it is running my life anymore.  That's good.  Only 10 more days til we find out what this little bean is :)

4 Months!

I am officially 4 months as of tomorrow and today I am 18 weeks along :)  Things last week were much better than the previous two.  We waited all day last Monday for Mikey to poop and he never did and when he did on Tuesday morning, it was completely normal.  I still took it in for testing and we found out that he didn't have anything diagnosable.  No C Diff, no rotavirus, no giardia etc.  They ran a full panel and it came back negative for everything they tested.  The only thing I can think is that he had a bad stomach virus but no fever which usually accompanies all of those illnesses listed above.  Anyway, he is doing 100% better and is feeling well and we even finished the pink eye drops as of Saturday, yippee!

As for me, I am feeling okay, but still not great.  I started taking less Zofran going from 2 pills a day down to 1 or even none.  On Saturday I didn't have any, on Sunday I needed 1, and today so far I haven't had any and I'm okay.  As for weight gain, this time I am not stressing about it.  I have a lot of aches and pains in my lower back and side so I haven't felt like exercising much and I am just letting it come as it comes.  Last time I stressed and stressed over it and ended up gaining 39 pounds but I know now that it was it difficult for me to gain so much, but persevered and I lost it all and even more so I know I will do it again.

To date, I have gained 13 pounds and in my pregnancy book, the recommended weight gain is 10-13 pounds at this point so I feel good about where I am at.

In fun news, my in-laws are coming home from their mission tomorrow and next week, Justin and I leave on Tuesday morning to Cancun for the week, yay!  I'm excited for fun things to come.

Taking it One Day at a Time

Well, Mikey is still not doing better.  He threw up Tues and Wed night and he has continually had diarrhea every day.  His poop was getting more solid over the weekend and was not lying around for a few hours every day anymore so we thought he was on the tail end of his illness but alas, not so.

On Sunday morning he laid around all morning and had diaper after diaper of diarrhea.  He then had many more in the evening for a total of like 8-10 dirty diapers, good grief.  Also, on Saturday night I talked to my sister-in-law and she said her youngest son had his stool tested and he didn't have rotavirus, but C Diff which is a lot harder to get rid of and may require nasty tasting antibiotics.

So, with that new information, we are going to test Mikey's stool today and find out if he does have rotavirus (I now hope so) or C Diff and see what course of action to take with that.  We did buy him some Culturelle probiotic powder to add to drinks/food and he has taken it Sunday and now again today.

He also got pink eye last week and I only had leftover drops to last 4 days so I stopped and alas, he got it again yesterday so I had to go fill my next prescription and now do it another 7 days, lucky me.

Also, Allie is now sick with a bad cold and fever and is just laying around on the couch all day.  I guess the Lord is feeling like testing me right now because wow, how much more sickness can we take on?  However, with me not feeling all that adventurous with morning sickness, I am not feeling too stir crazy thankfully.

The only really big bummer is my friend Claudia drove up Saturday from AZ while her husband is out of town and was planning on staying with us until Thurdsay but has decided to just stay with her brother's girlfriend's family instead but she doesn't know them at all so it is a little awkward.  Until we know what we're dealing with with Mikey though, she doesn't want to stay with us because she has a little 22 month old daughter that could easily catch what Mikey has.

Anyway, I am now 17 weeks and last week I felt a lot better than the week before.  On Monday and Tuesday I actually had very minimal morning sickness and felt really good and that was so nice.  I thought I had turned a corner.  However, I have gone back and forth feeling good and feeling crappy.  Saturday I was very worn out and sick and Sunday I felt pretty good.  Today, mostly nauseous but just staying home to do laundry all day.

Hope your week is going better than mine!

Ultrasound Scheduled!

I had my regular checkup today and scheduled the big Ultrasound for May 9th :)  I'm excited to find out what this little baby will be.  I want a girl, only because I want to use all of my cute girl stuff again but I'd be equally thrilled to have another baby boy :)  4 weeks and 2 days to go!

So Glad Last Week is Over!!

Last week was a terrible week for my family.  A week ago Thursday (10 days ago) my nephews were sleeping over and the youngest threw up.  He seemed fine besides a tummy ache until he left Saturday.  On Saturday night Mikey threw up 4 times, twice during Easter Sunday and twice more Sunday night.  That was fun.  No candy for that baby.

Then on Monday came the diarrhea which lasted all morning into the afternoon.  It then stopped and he didn't throw up Monday night although Justin started feeling ill on Monday night.  We decided he was better so Tuesday we left Justin home sick and went to visit my Mom in Wales, UT.  We were having lots of fun until Mikey started bawling in the car on the way back from visiting a museum and getting some food and he ended up throwing up, oh goody.  Then we left around 8 PM and he had diarrhea very bad on the 2 hour drive home but I didn't know until we got home and found the mess he left us.  I don't believe he threw up that night.

On Wednesday Justin was feeling a lot better but decided to still stay home and work from home.  I was able to go grocery shopping alone and then when Mikey had a nap I took Allie on a long walk to the library, it was really nice to have some breaks and help.  That night Mikey threw up again and had diarrhea all morning.

Then he threw up again Thursday night and when Justin came to help me, we noticed his eyes were sealed shut and we started to worry he was dehydrated.  We called the doctor and they said to go to the ER because I thought he hadn't had a wet diaper the entire day before but then I realized he did have one around 5 PM so we relaxed and went back to bed but decided we needed to go to the doctor on Friday.  (We figured it was just a stomach bug so we didn't worry too much but after 6 days of throwing up and diarrhea, we knew it was time.  Plus, we are paying a deductible so everything is out of pocket right now, ouch.)

On Friday we made an appt and Justin decided to work from home again in case he was dehydrated and we had to take him to get an IV.  The doctor said he wasn't dehydrated but likely had rotavirus, a nasty stomach bug that can last up to 8 days.  Ugggh, what a nasty thing to catch!  We kept trying to give him pedialyte and gatorade but he didn't love any of those drinks much and he wouldn't drink much water.  He only wanted milk, poor baby.

Then Friday night around 11 PM Timmy came in and smelled like poop.  We went down to investigate and he had to poop so bad that he stood up and went in his underwear.  Then he was embarrassed and tried to clean it up but it fell all over his carpet, yuck.  Justin worked on cleaning him up and I attacked the carpet, seriously the worst!  He finally got back to bed in the guest bedroom at 11:30 and then Mikey was up at 12:30 and threw up twice and Justin was so exhausted he didn't even know I was up again.  He had diarrhea all of Saturday morning and was moaning on the ground poor baby.  Then I put him down for a nap and 20 minutes later he woke up crying and cried for a solid 45 minutes and would scream if we tried to pick him up so we called the doctor and they said for us to come right in again.  We were afraid of something else going on like a stomach block or appendix bursting.  He ended up being fine but the doctor said his stomach muscles were shot and he had a lot of pain in his tummy.  She gave him ibuprofen and sent home all sorts of drinks and yogurts to help him feel better.  She also said he had pink eye so we have to eye drops for a week too, oh good.  I was so exhausted Saturday that I fell asleep twice on the couch and Justin made lunch for everyone which was great.

He finally slept all night Saturday night but had diarrhea all morning and was moaning on the ground in pain so Justin gave him a blessing.  He calmed down and took a 2 hour nap and woke up a much changed baby, actually smiling real smiles and giggles again.  It was so nice!

He did wake up Sunday night crying but nothing was going on so I just held him for 5 minutes and he fell back to sleep immediately.  He has been feeling much better this morning and I finally gave him milk since he hasn't thrown up since Friday night.  So far no diarrhea yet today but I don't think it's completely gone away yet.  The doctor said diarrhea can last up to a week longer and since this bug is passed through fecal matter (poop), we still need to be careful.

Well, that was long but I wanted to document my poor baby's illness.  I think I may have contracted it a little too because I was really sick last Monday, Wed and Thurs and I am finally feeling back to normal nausea.  I think I also have sciatic pain this time and I keep getting throbbing pain in my hip and just behind my hip.  I have my regular doctor checkup tomorrow so it will be nice to ask my questions and schedule my big ultrasound in 4 weeks :)

I usually start to feel better around now but I am still quite nauseated but not terribly sick and not as tired.  It doesn't bother me as much as it did 4 weeks ago so that's nice.

Goodbye week, don't wish to repeat you ever!

15 weeks

Well, it's Monday again and I am 15 weeks but not feeling very well today.  I was determined not to take a Zofran since I am running low on them, they are expensive and I am just staying home with a sick baby but I caved.  The nausea was growing and growing all morning so I decided to take one.

I'm probably paying for the weekend of crappy eating.  We had a triple baptism on Saturday for 2 nephews and a niece and afterwards I was starving and all there was to eat was treats and some fruit.  I ate several treats and felt okay after.  Then on Sunday I finally ate a few Easter treats after church and they were yummy but I felt kind of ill the rest of the day.  I was even going to eat an entire piece of pie after dinner but luckily I didn't like it and only had a few bites.

In the past few weeks overall I have been feeling a bit better.  I haven't had any of the strong stomach aches that drive me crazy and I still don't even have one today, just some nausea mixed with being tired from being up with a vomiting baby the past 2 nights.  Holy cow, I just noticed it is almost 5:30 PM and I haven't even started making any dinner today.  I guess having a late snack has made me not notice how late it is.

Guess I should log off and feed my family and pray that tomorrow my son isn't throwing up, no one else gets it, and I feel better!  My trip is only 4 weeks away....... body, get better soon!
