Exercise

Well, I finally started exercising again! Doctors say it can help with weight gain and even lessen morning sickness some so now that I'm feeling a little better, (well, not really) I need to do something to make me feel better. So, I pulled out my 5 mile walking video and did 30 minutes total which was just over 2 miles at an easy pace. I didn't exactly feel the nausea leave when exercising but it didn't increase either and I have felt fine afterwards so I think it will be something I now continue on a regular basis.

Hopefully it will help me gain a reasonable amount since I am on meds which make me not throw up so I am gaining more than my previous pregnancies. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Update

Well, I was right on track to only gain 10 pounds in the first trimester, and I figured that was a good goal so that I didn't let myself gain too much, but I went a little over. I was seriously a little under 10 pounds only 2 days before 12 weeks but then I gained a pound in a day, lucky me! Oh well, I'm still hoping to not gain too much this pregnancy, but if I do, oh well. I keep going back and forth between not caring and then caring too much!

My doctor does not seem to be much of a stickler on weight gain, but his nurse seems to care more, although she has never had any kids and doesn't truly understand nausea and eating etc. Since she is the one who does my weigh-ins, I may have to listen to her lectures in the future. Who knows, maybe not but when I first went in she said I could gain between 20-30 pounds and now it's down to 15-20 after the first trimester, ya right! So, we'll see what reality is :)

The Other Direction

Well, Raphael has gone home and I would normally say that I am going to eat better, exercise more, blah blah blah, but that will not happen! The reason is, I'm pregnant! I have known for almost 5 weeks now so I think I'm about 8 1/2 weeks along. I am going to the doctor on Tuesday and he will be better able to determine a due date but my best guess is March 20-22.

I am excited but already feeling sick and it is no fun. So far, no throwing up yet but it is probably time to start. With both of my other kids, I got sick at 6 weeks and starting throwing up just before 9 weeks so it's time....ugggh! As for exercising, that's pretty much gone up in flames because let's be honest, who wants to exercise when you feel nauseated, uh, no one! When it comes to eating, I'm a pig! I have NEVER felt so hungry with a pregnancy before and I have already gained I think 8 pounds in 5 weeks. Not a great sign to stay around a 30 pound weight gain like I did with my other kids :) What can I say, I can't help it, I'm starving all the time so food is necessary.

I am really hoping that after the first trimester, the crazy hunger abates and I can go back to eating just a little more than normal instead of a meal every 2-3 hours. For example, this morning I have already had 2 eggs, 2 glasses of milk, a plain Eggo waffle, half an apple and ramen noodles with some corn and melted cheese. This is all before 11 AM, yikes! In some ways, I consider these free pounds because I have not been to the doc yet and he hasn't started monitoring weight yet. They won't feel so free after the baby's born though :)

Oh well, here's to a healthy baby!

Off and on track!

Since I knew I was taking a break, I have really taken a break! As a result, the weight has started to pile on and I really need to buckle down and cut down on the sweets! So, today is starting my non-sweets day and hopefully will continue at least during the week days.

In some ways I really like losing weight and staying accountable. However, when I give myself a little break, I ALWAYS go overboard and eat waaaaaaay more than I should. In some ways, I wonder if these ups and downs are really good for me and the answer is probably not. If only I could find a good balance where I didn't feel so deprived of so many foods so I didn't gorge on them during my breaks. Still working on the answer to this one......

Friday Morning Weigh-In

This morning I weighed in at 140.8. This is up again, 0.4 pounds. I am still trying to find that motivation that I lost and it hasn't quite come back yet! This week was full of house fix-up projects and so I did exercise most days, and those I didn't, I was doing lots of busy work namely prepping for paint and painting. I am not going to weigh in for the next while since we are having a foreign exchange student come and I will be going everywhere and eating everywhere and I'm not sure how much I'll be able to exercise. He will leave mid August so until then, good luck!

How are you doing?

Friday Morning Weigh-In

This morning I weighed in at 140.4 which is up 0.4 pounds. What can I say, I love to stay right around 140! This week I exercised well but I didn't eat so well. After a crazy holiday weekend with lots of food, I had a hard time getting back on the healthy band wagon this week. Oh well, we'll see if the motivation comes back soon!

Friday Morning Weigh-In

This morning I weighed in at 140. This is down 0.6 pounds from last week, yay! I finally made it back to 140 but I want to ultimately get to 135 so I have some wiggle room. I have mentioned before, but I really like being below 140 so I am really close now :) I know I can do it! I am glad to be down 2.2 pounds from my trip in May (pathetic, I know!) but I am slowly doing it.

I need to find a reward that is not food that is really motivating to me. I love food, so it really is my biggest reward such as going out to eat whenever something big happens in my life! I love baby showers, wedding showers, farewells, homecomings, baby blessings, celebrations, birthdays, Christmas treats, girls night outs, date nights, graduations, etc. Basically anything that includes a good spread of food is happiness to me!

My last goal when I was losing weight and exercising 5 times a week at the beginning of the year was going on a date night every 2 weeks. Maybe I'll pick that up again, I really enjoyed that! With Justin done with school, this should be no problem now.

One other thing I have always wanted to do is fit back in my wedding dress. I really have no idea how much I weighed when I got married but I have never been able to wear my dress again after about 6 months into my marriage. I am guessing I weighed around 130, because when I got down to 136 I was close, but still not quite. I am pleased though that I am down 10 pounds from where I was last year, and it feels good! I don't think at this point I can ever be 150 again and be really happy with the way my body looks. I remember when I weighed in when I got pregnant with Allison, I was 153 so I'm feeling pretty good right now about my weight :)

UPDATE: I just weighed in after exercising and before lunch and I was 139.4, yay!!
