Mini Goal

This past weekend I ate and ate and ate.  Yeah, way too much.  So, I am deciding that for the next 2 weeks, I am going to not eat anything sugary.  The only exceptions are Halloween and my birthday, a week from Wed on Nov 6.

This morning as a result I weighed in at 152, up 0.4 pounds.  However, I lost weight and even saw 150 even on the scale last week before my binge eating, lol.  It all started with me buying a package of Snickers PB squares in the fun size.  I was hungry so I ate 4 right away and when I checked the calories, I realized they are 130 calories each, yikes!  So I downed 520 calories in just a few minutes, lol.

I want to feel better than this and start fitting into my jeans so here goes my mini goal!  Wish me luck.  Also, I bought a pair of jeans that fit great so I am ok in that department but I have so many cute pairs of jeans that are calling my name for the winter :)

It's Monday again.......

This morning when I weighed in I was at 151.6, only down 0.2 pounds from last week but I had already had some water to drink and hadn't gone to the bathroom, so I was probably a little lower than that.  In fact, I have been at 150.8 a few times earlier in the week so whatever.

Last week I exercised Monday and Tuesday and then Wednesday I started getting sick and by Thursday morning I was sure I had strep throat.  I went to the doc and they didn't even do a test but just treated me with antibiotics since 3 of my kids had it the week before.  As a result, I really took it easy the rest of the week although my family and I went on an easy hike on Saturday which was nice.

Anyway, last Friday when I was indeed at 150.8 I took my measurements so that I can motivate myself a little.

Neck:  12.5
Chest:  37
Under chest:  31.25
Waist:  33.25
Hips:  37.75
Right arm:  12
Right thigh:  22.75
Calf:  15

I am still not super motivated to lose weight although the wardrobe is seriously lacking.  I can wear my shirts/sweaters but only a few pairs of pants.  Lots of my stretchy pants are now a little big but my jeans are still too tight.  I tried to find a pair of jeans that fit on Saturday at JC Penney but had no luck.  The only jeans that fit are too long so they drag everywhere I go and bug me a little.   So, I either need to get my butt in gear or find a pair to wear.  Honestly, I'd rather find a pair that fits me right now with all of this holiday food/candy around.

Also, since my baby is just on formula now, he is only pooping once, maybe twice a day and hardly ever at night anymore!  I thought this would cut down on the time it takes to put him back to sleep but no, he still just stares at me for like a half hour, boo.  Last night I was so tired that I fed him and then I normally wake him up a bit to burp but I just put him back to bed and apparently it didn't bother him because he just went back to bed and didn't get up until 6:30 AM.  If I don't burp him though, I have a hard time going back to bed wondering if he will fuss.....I can't win!

Anyway, I just want to give a shout out to my husband.  I think I appreciate him most when I have a newborn.  Just having him around and able to hold the baby while I get things done and escape for a little while is just heaven.  He even gets up in the night to do the feedings occasionally which I love too.  I just really appreciate him right now and he is such a great dad and husband.

Hey

So, this week I weighed in at 151.8, up 1.6 pounds from last week.  However, I am still just enjoying food and not pumping anymore (yay!) so I now have 12 pounds to lose.  This past week I started cutting down on pumping and my milk started going away quickly so I just decided to be done on Saturday, only making it 3.5 weeks.  However, I still have some frozen milk so today will probably be the last of the milk for the baby and tomorrow he is 4 weeks old so it's all good.  We almost made it a month, and I'm so glad to be done with another stage of life!

This past week was a little crazy for me though with my 3 older kids getting strep throat.  I also took the kids in to get their flu shots.  I'm hoping this winter will not be horrible with illness.  Mikey has usually gotten ill every 2-3 weeks during the winter in the past so I'm hoping he's getting older and over that phase, otherwise we could be in a for a rough winter.  At least we took precautions to avoid the flu :)

I am starting to want to lose some weight.  I am not loving that I went up last week instead of down but I have still been eating treats daily.  Perhaps I need to just plan to have treats a few times a week instead of every day.

I am also going to start exercising a little this week, perhaps walking/running around my circle while my baby naps with the monitor outside.  I am also going to go to volleyball on Thursday night with my ward.  I've been waiting to go to volleyball, and last week it was family togetherness week so no volleyball but this week, woo hoo!

In fabulous news, the past 2 nights my baby has slept from 8-2 and then up again after 5:30 or 6 so Justin takes over then.  It's great only being up once at night.  Still waiting for my baby to stop pooping so much at night though.  Baby steps.

3 Weeks Old!

Well, my baby is now 3 weeks old.  The past three weeks have flown by and dragged by all at the same time.  I am not as anxious going to bed seeing as my little one only gets up twice in the night and is really quite well behaved.  Still trying to love this stage but alas, newborns are just not my cup of tea.  In fun news, he is starting to smile a little.

As for weight loss, today I was at 150.2.  I have just over 10 pounds to go, and I really need to lose those pounds quick to fit into my jeans for winter.  I still only have a few pairs of pants that fit and they are getting old day after day.  With the holidays here though, it may not happen and I really have no desire to follow any strict eating plan or exercise with any vigor yet.  Maybe in the next few weeks that will change but for now, I will try to limit sweets.

I have stayed at 150 every day for the past 5 days so it seems I have lost all I am going to lose without putting my own effort into it.  I usually lose 25 pounds and then work for the rest.  It would be great to get under 150 and but as mentioned above, I am not ready to try anything to get there just yet.

I will check in again next week.  Until then, enjoy the fall food and weather, I know I will be!

No Stress equals easier Weight Loss

So this time I didn't stress too much about my weight gain like I did with Mikey.  As a result, I gained a little less (36.6 pounds) and it is coming off a little easier :)

My weight gain was exactly 35 pounds the day before I delivered but then I ate at Arctic Circle for lunch, and had pizza for dinner for 2 reasons.  The first, my brother was supposed to come home from his mission that evening and I was supposed to go out to eat at a Mexican restaurant called Tio's in Murray and secondly, I developed a cold that afternoon and my energy was zapped.  I wasn't planning to cook so Justin kindly brought home pizza since Rusty got delayed until Wednesday because of Hurricane Ingrid.  After we dropped our kids off at my in-laws for the night we stopped at Nielsen's Frozen Custard and had custard, yum!

All in all, I woke up weighing in at 176.4 when I headed to the hospital.

Now, the baby is 11 days old and this morning my weight when I jumped in the shower was 154.8, and I had already eaten breakfast and had some water to drink so likely around 154.  I have updated my ticker above to reflect my weight loss with my starting weight at 176.4 and my ending weight 139.8 which is where I started.  This means I have lost over 20 pounds and have about 15 to go :)

I am still pumping 4 times a day so that should help the weight loss but man, I am loving food right now and sugar is so delicious.  I went and bought my favorite cereal (honey bunches of oats with almonds) and I am loving my breakfast cereal with toast every morning!

Here's to a quicker weight loss than 8 months!

Welcome Baby Wesley!

Well, he made it here and we are all so happy!  Not everything has been smooth sailing (hello hormones and anxiety) but today I'm feeling pretty positive.

Last Tuesday we woke up early and headed to the hospital arriving around 6:50 AM.  They had just had 2 women come in and deliver within 10 minutes of arriving so the nurses were a little preoccupied so no one even came in our room until about 8 AM.  I got my IV, not terrible but still hurt.  Then we got started on Pitocin and the nurse left.  My doctor came in around 8:40 and broke my water but he first had to make sure the head was done and ouch, so not pleasant.....did I say ouch?

Then for the next few hours Justin and I just chilled watching Chuck although I had to pee like every 15 minutes, it was terrible.  I got up several times and I almost wanted to get my epidural so that I could get a catheter and stop going to the bathroom.

Our nurse got called into a C-section so we got a new nurse which we both liked so much more.  She was much more friendly and chatty.  I told her around 11 AM that the contractions were only every 20 minutes or so and not really doing much.  She turned up the pitocin and then I felt contractions quite strongly for the next 20 minutes or so and decided to get the epidural.  After that, I fell asleep for an hour, it was nice :)

Then the nurse checked me around 1 PM and I was at a 5 and she put in the catheter and said once my bladder was drained the baby could move down faster.  I asked her how long she thought it would be before I delivered and she said by 3 PM.  She left and around 1:15 I started shaking and was so cold.  Justin went out and got a nurse to give us a warm blanket which helped.  Then my nurse came in at 1:35 to check me because I was feeling a little uncomfortable and she said shaking was a showing signs of a transition.  She checked me and gasped saying I was a 10 and that the baby would be coming very soon.  She called my doctor and told him to run and he did run!  He came in the room, asked if there was time to change and she told him to change quickly and said she wouldn't put my legs up in the stirrups until he was ready, lol.

He came in, got everything ready and I pushed through 3 contractions and the baby was delivered in less than 10 minutes at 1:55 PM.  The nurse almost wanted me to push faster than the doctor because he was trying to help me not tear but I pushed down and I did tear.   He said it was a 2nd degree tear and I got stitches for a little while after.  He weighed 8 lb 1 oz and was 19.5 inches long, my shortest baby.

Then we hung out in our room for a while and I had lunch and then we moved to our room.  My mom came to visit and then my dad.  Justin left before 7 to spend some time with the kids and get them to bed at his parent's house.

Anyway, that's how the day went when Wesley was born, and it was a pretty great day.

39 Weeks and Here We Go!

So last week after my doctor's appt I was really bummed and kept feeling down all day.  However as the day went on and talking to Justin and my mom and praying a lot, I felt like I should just have the baby on Tuesday the 17th which means tomorrow!  All of my confusion seemed to melt away and I felt pretty happy and peaceful Tuesday night so I'm having a baby very soon.

This morning I weighed in at 174.8 which is exactly 35 pounds gained.

Now for the bummer news.  I planned with my doctor an induction for Tuesday because I wanted to make it to my brother's airport homecoming from his mission.  Unfortunately Hurricane Ingrid is hitting Tampico Mexico this morning which is where he is serving so his flight was canceled.  Boo.  Now he has another flight scheduled for Wednesday but I will be in the hospital so I will miss the celebration.  Oh well, at least I'll have my cute baby boy here and no more aches, pains and nausea.

This past week the heartburn has gone crazy, the worst I've ever had and the feeling of acid in my throat was bothering me constantly.  The tums just didn't cut it this time so I tried some Prilosec OTC although the box said it can take 1-4 days to kick in.  I bought it on Friday and took one on Saturday morning and it worked that day, yay!  I took another one yesterday and I needed no tums both days.  (I admit, I took 2 in the afternoon just because I like them so much, lol!)  So far today I forgot to take it on an empty stomach this morning but I am feeling fine and will probably just survive on Tums if needed seeing as this is the last day of heartburn I should really have.

Well, I'm off to my last doctor's appt and hopefully things are progressing and all goes well tomorrow morning.  A huge thanks to my in-laws for taking my kids tonight through Thursday :)
